ROUSTABOUTS.
These are the backbone of any travelling show, though from the way they're often treated by management you certainly wouldn't think so. Responsible for mucking out the horse stalls, putting up the canvas tents, tending to the baggage horses and taking care of any trouble that breaks out, they're an invaluable asset to the circus. They're also the first people not to get paid whenever money is running thin. These men work hard for very little pay, live in the worst conditioned cars and are dissuaded from mixing with the performers.
MENAGERIE: Responsible for mucking out the animal cages and tending to the animals.
BAGGAGE STOCK: Work horses.
RING STOCK: Performance horses.
CANVAS: Putting up and taking down the tents.
PORTERS: In charge of the train cars, also responsible for redlighting at the boss’ request.
SHILLS: One who pretends to play a game or to buy a ticket to an attraction, in order to entice others to join or follow him.

MAXIMUM NUMBER. DEPARTMENTS: menagerie (2), baggage stock (2), ring stock (1), canvas tenting (3), porters (2), shills (2).

MAXIMUM NUMBER. FOUR.
CHARACTERS.

VET.
Due to the number of animals travelling with the show, the Birling Brothers saw fit to employ their very own Vet. It's possible they also serve as the circus doctor from time to time.
MAXIMUM NUMBER. ONE.
CHARACTERS.
